I recently went to Ollie’s Public House located in beautiful College Park. Over the years the name has changed at this place and I believe is was Jax before the current name which took place in 2012. Regardless of the name change they still serve good food. It reminds of a local casual dive spot, kind of like a older sports bar type of feel, its kind of rustic, but it a good feel way. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating. One thing that has not changed over the years is their fresh sliced pickles in a jar. And its free! Rarely does some place give away free snacks that are worthy. And these pickles are worthy.
On the first visit I had the Pita style Pizza. I would not call it a Pita Pizza, its more like a personal pan pizza. I had what’s called The House, pizza. It was priced at $9. The crust was just right, not to thick and definitely not to thin for this personal pan style pizza. It had fresh tomatoes, swiss, feta, provolone, fresh prosciutto, and fresh garlic and onion. Definitely enough for one person. I was delighted with it, not a bad pizza.
On the next visit, I went with The “Filly” priced at $9. This is not your average Philly Cheese Steak. It was prepared with thin sliced roast beef, with green peppers and onions, cream cheese and with horseradish sauce served on a white hoagie roll. I told you this was not your average Philly. I really liked this sub. The roast beef was not fatty, it was nice and lean, and the cream cheese mixed with the horseradish gave it a nice kick, but yet not too spicy, just kicked up a notch.
Service was attentive and the server really acted like she wanted to be there. Would I go back? Absolutely!
Open 11am -2am daily.
